LOS ANGELES - URAC, a national non-profit that aims to improve healthcare by setting standards with medical practitioners across the country, has retained SmartComment to provide an ongoing platform for initiating and managing the group's dialogue with industry stakeholders and the public.
Based in Washington DC, URAC will use SmartComment across its organizational structure - from soliciting and managing input on medical facility accreditation standards to taking comments from the public through its website.
"We are proud to serve as a conduit for meaningful dialogue and mutual understanding between URAC staff and medical practitioners across America," said Tim Mullen, co-founder of Los Angeles-based SmartComment. "Healthcare is an industry driven by constant evolution, and we look forward to our role in helping URAC continue to forge its world-class reputation as an innovator and thought leader in the medical field."
Established in 1990, URAC has long emphasized transparency and extensive client engagement in the process it uses to develop its industry standards and measurements. When URAC staff proposes changing a performance metric or standard, for example, it can take up to a year and sometimes requires going out for multiple public comment periods with the organization's healthcare-industry stakeholders.
"Adding our digital engagement platform to the multiple levels of their outreach efforts is a logical extension of the philosophy of inclusion that has guided URAC from the beginning," Mullen said. "We expect to make their client relationships even stronger going forward, ensuring fair and safe medical standards for patients across the country."
SmartComment provides a powerful online platform that allows agencies and organizations to efficiently manage multiple public comment periods, as well as analyze and maintain the components of each one. Besides providing a website set up specifically for each project, SmartComment's powerful suite of tools allows clients to organize comments by topic, location, and other criteria, and to efficiently respond to them. SmartComment has brought increased accessibility and transparency to a number of high-profile clients, including the Army Corps of Engineers, Caltrans, the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, and many more.
